A Porch

This evening Anastasia was cooking food for the coming week.  As a result, our apartment got rather hot.  When I went to take some trash outside I was surprised at how much it had cooled down, and there was a gentle breeze blowing.  The lovely evening was emphasized all the more by the stuffy indoors.

Strangely, the first thing that came to my mind was that when we buy a house, it will need a porch.  It may take a little while to afford it, but before the kids have all flown the coop, I'd like a porch.

I realize that a porch doesn't necessarily belong on a wishlist because it is something I'll need to do myself.  However, a barren porch is a pitiful sight.  In order to be functional, there are a bunch of things required:

  • place(s) to sit
  • small table to hold drinks, newspaper, etc.
  • wind chime
  • candle in a cage
  • miscellaneous small artsy-fartsy things

After scouring the Internet for a few moments, I found the images at the top.  They are things that I like, but before you go and grab any of them, you may want to check with my wife. ;-)

Here are a few interesting sites that I found while wishing for a porch:

"3 Feet Please"

I don't have any bicycle jerseys.  Not that I really want any, but this one seems like it could aide my cycling safety.  Considering that I bike a lot with Alexei on board, anything that improves safety is a good thing.

At the time I wrote this, both the long and short sleeve jerseys were going for $60.  Fortunately, there is a $15 T-Shirt option.  Any one of them would be fine with me.  Size-wise, I take a medium men's jersey or a large T.  Note: It's not the law in Maryland, yet, so grab the jersey with the blank front.

Faceplate for cell phone

When I bought my Pantech C3b cell phone from ATT 2 years ago, the primary reason was because my old cell phone died.  The secondary reason was because there were cheap faceplates available for it.  Specifically, there was an orange faceplate.

Fast-forward two years, and my phone is still sporting the factory blue face.  Realistically, I doubt that I'll continue to use it as my primary phone for two more years.  So before it goes the way of the Dodo, I should spend an hour scouring the Internet to find one of the real Pantech orange face plates.

Note: there are a few cheap knockoffs out there that either stick on the existing faceplate or snap over top of it.  The picture above is the real deal, so if you find one that looks like it and it costs under $10 (without shipping), you could give me an early birthday present.  I'll even start the song...

Happy Birthday to you,  Happy Birthday to you...
