A Porch

This evening Anastasia was cooking food for the coming week.  As a result, our apartment got rather hot.  When I went to take some trash outside I was surprised at how much it had cooled down, and there was a gentle breeze blowing.  The lovely evening was emphasized all the more by the stuffy indoors.

Strangely, the first thing that came to my mind was that when we buy a house, it will need a porch.  It may take a little while to afford it, but before the kids have all flown the coop, I'd like a porch.

I realize that a porch doesn't necessarily belong on a wishlist because it is something I'll need to do myself.  However, a barren porch is a pitiful sight.  In order to be functional, there are a bunch of things required:

  • place(s) to sit
  • small table to hold drinks, newspaper, etc.
  • wind chime
  • candle in a cage
  • miscellaneous small artsy-fartsy things

After scouring the Internet for a few moments, I found the images at the top.  They are things that I like, but before you go and grab any of them, you may want to check with my wife. ;-)

Here are a few interesting sites that I found while wishing for a porch:

Frog pond

I want to have a frog pond in my yard.  A good friend of Papa's suggested that our family needs one.  I had never thought of it before, but I agree.  Maybe we could even have a turtle live there too!  Then I could have some more friends to play with.

I'm not sure what all is involved in getting a frog pond, so if it is a lot a lot, you can just give me a small part of the frog pond.  Eventually, I'll get enough small parts and have a whole frog.

Digital camera (BIG)

My trusty little Sony DSC-T7 is on the verge of collapse. I've had it for over three years, which doesn't seem like all that long. But in the world of gadgets, I guess it is a lifetime or two. After a bit of discussion with Troy, he has convinced me that I should get a real camera. I'm a little bit torn on the matter, but in the end I agree with him. After all, the important thing with pictures is....pictures. And right now my T7 is really not performing all that wonderfully.

So, which camera do I want? Ha! You think I know? ;) In other words, Troy is telling me what I want. (That's wrong on so many levels, but it makes sense here) Drum-roll, please.

Canon Rebel T1i

I know what you're thinking, Troy only picked it has his name (T1). Actually, maybe that is why, hmmm. Here is a review, if you're interested. The reason we're getting a Canon instead of a Nikon, is that Troy already has some decent Canon lenses that we can share. Of course, it appears to hold its own according to engadget (which Troy says is a good thing).
