My inner quack revealing itself. I mean, what use could colored lenses really provide to a computer user? Having said that, there are enough reviews (gadgetreview, wired, gizmodo) from people I consider to be my peers that this isn't just a gimmick.

So, who'd like to pony up ~$80 for my new pair of eyes? And I thought that I was finished with glasses after Lasik...

Sun, 28 Jun 2009 22:00:00 -0700 A Porch http://wish.thelliotts.net/a-porch http://wish.thelliotts.net/a-porch

This evening Anastasia was cooking food for the coming week.  As a result, our apartment got rather hot.  When I went to take some trash outside I was surprised at how much it had cooled down, and there was a gentle breeze blowing.  The lovely evening was emphasized all the more by the stuffy indoors.

Strangely, the first thing that came to my mind was that when we buy a house, it will need a porch.  It may take a little while to afford it, but before the kids have all flown the coop, I'd like a porch.

I realize that a porch doesn't necessarily belong on a wishlist because it is something I'll need to do myself.  However, a barren porch is a pitiful sight.  In order to be functional, there are a bunch of things required:

  • place(s) to sit
  • small table to hold drinks, newspaper, etc.
  • wind chime
  • candle in a cage
  • miscellaneous small artsy-fartsy things

After scouring the Internet for a few moments, I found the images at the top.  They are things that I like, but before you go and grab any of them, you may want to check with my wife. ;-)

Here are a few interesting sites that I found while wishing for a porch:

I don't have any bicycle jerseys.  Not that I really want any, but this one seems like it could aide my cycling safety.  Considering that I bike a lot with Alexei on board, anything that improves safety is a good thing.

At the time I wrote this, both the long and short sleeve jerseys were going for $60.  Fortunately, there is a $15 T-Shirt option.  Any one of them would be fine with me.  Size-wise, I take a medium men's jersey or a large T.  Note: It's not the law in Maryland, yet, so grab the jersey with the blank front.

Media_httpthelliottsnetmediausersnastiawifeyiphonejpg_elqdgeicetakahq

I'm tired of getting stuck in traffic and not knowing how to unstick myself.  The husband convinced me that a new iPhone would solve my problems.  My camera is getting ready to die too, so maybe this will work as my main camera, until we can afford a real camera for me.

Santa Claus, if you're out there and listening, I want a white one.  I don't really care about how much space it has, so whatever you have available will be fine.  Just make sure it is white and is the most recent model.

I want to have a frog pond in my yard.  A good friend of Papa's suggested that our family needs one.  I had never thought of it before, but I agree.  Maybe we could even have a turtle live there too!  Then I could have some more friends to play with.

I'm not sure what all is involved in getting a frog pond, so if it is a lot a lot, you can just give me a small part of the frog pond.  Eventually, I'll get enough small parts and have a whole frog.

Thu, 11 Jun 2009 12:00:00 -0700 Faceplate for cell phone http://wish.thelliotts.net/faceplate-for-cell-phone http://wish.thelliotts.net/faceplate-for-cell-phone

When I bought my Pantech C3b cell phone from ATT 2 years ago, the primary reason was because my old cell phone died.  The secondary reason was because there were cheap faceplates available for it.  Specifically, there was an orange faceplate.

Fast-forward two years, and my phone is still sporting the factory blue face.  Realistically, I doubt that I'll continue to use it as my primary phone for two more years.  So before it goes the way of the Dodo, I should spend an hour scouring the Internet to find one of the real Pantech orange face plates.

Note: there are a few cheap knockoffs out there that either stick on the existing faceplate or snap over top of it.  The picture above is the real deal, so if you find one that looks like it and it costs under $10 (without shipping), you could give me an early birthday present.  I'll even start the song...

Happy Birthday to you,  Happy Birthday to you...

Mon, 13 Apr 2009 19:00:00 -0700 Digital camera (BIG) http://wish.thelliotts.net/digital-camera-big http://wish.thelliotts.net/digital-camera-big

My trusty little Sony DSC-T7 is on the verge of collapse. I've had it for over three years, which doesn't seem like all that long. But in the world of gadgets, I guess it is a lifetime or two. After a bit of discussion with Troy, he has convinced me that I should get a real camera. I'm a little bit torn on the matter, but in the end I agree with him. After all, the important thing with pictures is....pictures. And right now my T7 is really not performing all that wonderfully.

So, which camera do I want? Ha! You think I know? ;) In other words, Troy is telling me what I want. (That's wrong on so many levels, but it makes sense here) Drum-roll, please.

Canon Rebel T1i

I know what you're thinking, Troy only picked it has his name (T1). Actually, maybe that is why, hmmm. Here is a review, if you're interested. The reason we're getting a Canon instead of a Nikon, is that Troy already has some decent Canon lenses that we can share. Of course, it appears to hold its own according to engadget (which Troy says is a good thing).
